Ben Pile was named head of residential investing and asset management for Europe at Barings, a spokeswoman confirmed.

The role is new. Mr. Pile, who is based in London, is responsible for sourcing residential deals for seven local European transactions teams as well as joint ventures with developers across Europe. Mr. Pile also monitors investment due diligence.

“With over ten years’ experience across the living sectors, from senior living to student accommodation and build to rent, Ben has delivered best in class projects across all our key sectors. His extensive network and relationships with leading market operators will also fast-track our ability to provide deal flow opportunities, both on and off-market,” James Salmon, managing director and head of asset management for Europe at Barings, said in a news release Thursday.

Mr. Pile previously worked at Apache Capital Partners in London where he was investment director and led social infrastructure investments. A spokesman could not be reached to provide details of his replacement.

Barings had more than $387 billion in assets under management as of Sept. 30.

The firm managed $27.2 billion in real estate debt strategies as of March 31 and $15.3 billion in real estate equity strategies as of June 30.
